Come & Try Hockey 2019

On Saturday 23rd February Peel Hockey Association are hosting a COME & TRY event from 4pm to 6pm at The Sporting Globe Stadium (Mandurah Hockey Stadium), Fuchsia Court, Halls Head.

COME & TRY is for everyone, Junior & Senior Players, come & join in the fun on the turf or just come for a meet & greet with our participating local clubs. NEW PLAYERS WELCOME, we have sticks available for you to use.

Peel Hockey’s Winter Competitions cater to Senior & Junior Players for all ages starting with school year age groups from Kindy. Games are played locally on turf at The Sporting Globe Stadium with some junior programs on grass on Peelwood Reserve.

Junior Skills Development Program | Peel Hockey

Starting Tuesday 19th February Peel Hockey are running a 6-week pre-season Skill Development Program for junior players in school years 4 to 12.

Held at The Sporting Globe Stadium (Mandurah Hockey Stadium), Fuchsia Place, Halls Head the program caters to all levels of experience and abilities welcome, including beginners.

This is an opportunity for participants to understand the basic skills and fundamentals and take your hockey to the next level in preparation for the season ahead.

Program Information
     • 5pm to 6pm – Primary School Years 4 to 6
     • 6pm to 7pm – Secondary School Years 7 to 12

Cost $60.00

Minimum of 10 participants per age group.

Peel Hockey: Position Vacant – Development Officer (Part-time)

Peel Hockey is affiliated with Hockey WA and is the home for hockey in the Peel region. Our primary objective is to provide hockey to the community; through the coordination of participation programs and competitions over the winter and summer seasons.

Peel Hockey is looking for a part-time Development Officer to work with the Board and Hockey WA to increase participation in hockey throughout the Region and to provide development opportunities for players, coaches and officials.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Focus Areas of position

The Development Officer will work across five key areas identified by Peel Hockey. The first three, promotion, development and growth, directly relate to the organisation’s vision; to sustainably promote, develop and grow hockey for the Peel community. The other two areas – governance and infrastructure are key elements to ensure the sustainability of the organisation, from an operational and financial perspective.

Key Responsibilities

     • Promote – to improve the perception, awareness and knowledge level of hockey in the Mandurah and Peel community;
     • Develop – to increase the quality of local players, teams, officials and coaches;
     • Grow – to increase participant numbers across both junior and senior programs by 15% each year over the next three years;
     • Governance – complete implementation of off-field efficiency initiatives;
     • Infrastructure – provide sustainable high quality facilities that cater for growing participation.

Mandatory/Special Role Requirements

     • ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable mode of transport;
     • Criminal History Record Check: An acceptable National Police Certificate (police clearance), or equivalent, is an essential pre-employment requirement and must be obtained prior to commencement;
     • Due to the nature of this position, out of hours and weekend work may be required;
     • Current valid Working with Children Check.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should demonstrate their capacity to meet the following selection criteria, which should be read in conjunction with the specific responsibilities of this role.

Essential
     • Demonstrated ability to deliver programs and clinics within budgets;
     • High level communication skills and ability to elicit cooperation from and work with a diverse group of people/stakeholders;
     • High level administrative and organisational skills;
     • Ability to work independently;
     • Proven public speaking and presentation skills;
     • Ability to effectively plan and prioritise work and maximise the use of internal and external resources to achieve outcomes;
     • Flexibility in respect to work hours and travel;
     • Competence in commonly used personal computing applications.

Desirable Criteria
     • Experience working within a member-based association, particularly of a sporting nature;
     • Experience working in or with primary / secondary education institutions;
     • First Aid training;
     • Exposure within the sport of hockey possessing relevant accreditation in a coaching or wider administrative field.

Peel Rebels are Peel Hockey’s association-based teams participating in Hockey WA’s metropolitan based winter competitions. Home games are played at The Sporting Globe Stadium (Mandurah Hockey Stadium) Halls Head and away games at various locations around the metro area.

Summer Hockey 2019 Term 1 | Registrations Open

Registrations are now open for Peel Hockey’s 2019 Summer Season – Term 1, played at The Sporting Globe Stadium Mandurah (Mandurah Hockey Stadium).

Peel Hockey’s Summer Competitions cater to junior and senior players, encouraging a social, active and family environment. Whether you have played before or interested to learn, join us in this modified game format, fielding 7-a-side, mixed gender teams, played on half pitch.

SEASON OPENS – Wednesday 6th February

          SENIORS – $60.00 p/person
              • Wednesday – Social 7’s

          JUNIORS – $60.00 p/person
              • Wednesday – Mini 7’s
                 Primary school Years 3 to 6, 2 age groups

Peel Rebels call for players – Season 2019

Pre-season training will start this week for Peel Hockey’s Peel Rebel teams playing in Hockey WA’s metropolitan based competitions.

All players interested in playing for Peel Rebels in 2019 are encouraged to join in the pre-season squad training for all teams, Senior & Junior, starting Tuesday 15th January 2019.

Registrations will open soon for the following senior teams and junior age groups, new players are welcome
• Men
• Women
• J 11/12 Boys & Girls (Junior School Years 11 & 12)
• J 9/10 Boys & Girls (Junior School Years 9 & 10)

Squad training will run over 4 weeks starting at 6pm and run for approximately 1 hour in the following two locations

     Tuesday – 15, 22 & 29 January & 5 February
     Hall Park (Western foreshore near the war memorial)
     Start 6pm for 1 hour

     Thursday –17, 24 & 31 January & 7 February
     Peelwood Reserve (on the grass outside the Hockey Stadium)
     Start 6pm for 1 hour

BRING YOUR RUNNING SHOES AND WATER BOTTLE TO ALL TRAINING SESSIONS.

The group will train as a squad over the coming month as registrations open and coaches are announced. Team nominations are due 17th February.

Rebels Round Up 2019

On Wednesday 5th December, Peel Hockey will host an open information evening for anyone interested in being part of a Peel Rebel team in 2019, at 6.30pm in the clubroom at The Sporting Globe Stadium (Mandurah Hockey Stadium).

Peel Rebels are Peel Hockey’s representative teams participating in Hockey’s WA’s metropolitan based competitions. Games are played at home on turf at The Sporting Globe Stadium (Mandurah Hockey Stadium) and away at a variety of fields around the metro area.

Peel Hockey would like to increase their representative team base in 2019 and invite all interested players, off field team and parents to attend. This is an opportunity to bring your questions and conversations to the committee, so let’s turn the talk into action and get ready for 2019.

We encourage all past, present and NEW participants to attend the information evening to express your interest. The outcome of this meeting will determine the opening of season 2019 team registrations. Make your attendance a priority!

EOI’s Sought for Peel Rebel Teams 2019

Expressions of interest are being sought for Coach & Assistant Coach positions for Peel Rebels 2019 Teams.

Peel Rebels are Peel Hockey’s representative teams participating in Hockey WA’s metropolitan based competitions. Peel Hockey is seeking expression of interest for the following team roles for the upcoming 2019 Season:

     • Senior Coach Men’s
     • Assistant Coach Men’s
     • Senior Coach Ladies
     • Assistant Coach Ladies
     • Junior Boys Coaches (J11/12, J9/10, J7/8)
     • Junior Girls Coaches (J11/12, J9/10, J7/8)
     • Assistant Coaches all Junior grades.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with Peel Hockey and Peel Rebels. We are looking for Coaches who can deliver-

• Pre–season campaign as mutually developed and agreed with the Peel Hockey Board – Development Director and Peel Hockey Development Officer.
• Minimum 1 training session per week
• Match day coaching.
• Coach and player development coordination – attend monthly meetings during the 2019 season with all Peel Hockey coaches. Meetings will ensure coaching techniques and game play styles are coordinated and consistent throughout all grades to ensure continual player development in contemporary hockey.

Peel Hockey to host 2018 APES Games

Games begin at 8am on Tuesday 30th October for 5 big days of hockey hosted by Peel Hockey at the Sporting Globe Stadium in Halls Head.

Hockey is the second largest sport, with 18 teams (230 players) competing in the 17th Australasian Police and Emergency Games being held within the City of Mandurah from the 28 October to 3 November 2018.

Held every two years throughout Australia and New Zealand, this year Mandurah will host 3370 competitors participating in 50 sports, the vast majority played in five central sporting precincts:

• Rushton Park Precinct
• Peelwood Precinct
• Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre Precinct
• Western Foreshore Precinct
• Mandurah Ocean Marina Precinct

The Opening Ceremony will take place along the Eastern Foreshore on Sunday 28th October at 6pm.

The Closing Ceremony on Saturday 3rd November at the Marquay, Mandjar Square at 5.30pm.

APES Games are open to all serving and retired members, as well as registered volunteers of law enforcement and emergency service agencies.
