Community Engagement Workshop

Community Engagement Program 20183

Peel Hockey invites all members, players, parents and interested volunteers to attend a community engagement workshop run by Hockey WA’s Participation Coordinator Marc Pike who has 10+ years’ experience coaching and coach education in England, Queensland and WA.

The program focuses on the engagement of youth players in participation and grassroots programs through to 12/13-year old’s. The program covers topics including coaching techniques and game and training ideas with a key focus on engagement and small sided games.

The aim
• Retain and develop players in your junior club hockey teams
• Offer positive potential changes to coach practice including the way we run coaching activities (this is transferable into senior hockey)
• Run come and try days at your club / association to grow club numbers
• Get involved in paid casual positions to coach schools in the Peel Region for Hockey WA

The program has been delivered to numerous clubs and associations from Port Hedland to Busselton since February with an aim to cover more metro and regional associations in time.
